Use IOS 8 on iPhone and iPad

  • You can mark your e-mail as read by a simple left to right swipe that will mark it ‘Read.’ Remember that if you want to mark a conversation then you will need to choose each unread message and apply the swipe gesture.
  • To trash or flag a message left to right swipe and there will be a menu that will reveal several options like move to Junk, Flag, Forward, Reply or Notify.
  • When you are within your Inbox then swipe from left to right that will delete it without you having to go for any submenu.
  • Customize swipe: Settings-> Mail, Calendars, and Contacts -> Swipe Options; from here, you can change the gesture to what you feel better like a right swipe command.
  • You can easily minimize an email that you are reading by dragging the message to the bottom of the screen. This way you can access other e-mails in your Inbox. Press and hold on to the e-mail title and drag to the bottom of the screen. Tap on the message to retrieve it back.
  • It is easier to reply to the e-mail notifications, tap the Flag icon and select the option of Notify Me, Confirm and you are done.
  • At times, you are coordinating with a person in a different time zone than yours, at this time you need to know when exactly they are available. For doing this use the Time Zone Override feature that can be enabled to show you event data along with the specific time, Settings-> Mail, Contacts, Calendar->Time Zone Override and toggle to enable it.
  • When you are getting many e-mails in a day it is hard to exactly know how many are left unread, here is how you can enable the option, Mail-> Mailboxes->Edit-> Unread
  • To search something, when you are in Inbox, drag down to reveal the search option, this will help you search your entire inbox easily. You can choose the option of All or Current mailboxes.
  • It is often the scenario that you are waiting for an urgent message to reply or have a time set to the project that requires timely input. At this time, you need to know the time of an e-mail message arrival, drag the message to left and you will see the time it was replied.
  • When you press and hold down the Copy option, it will be revealed along with More menu. Want to delete message then select the More function and delete the message.
  • While in iMessage if you want to send a quick picture to another then hold down the camera icon to reveal the menu. Swipe up for picture capture and swipe left for recording a video instantly.
  • At times, when you are annoyed by a slew of messages pouring in you would definitely like to use the Mute option. Go to the specific message Details-> toggle to choose Do Not Disturb, now you have muted the iMessages as well as SMS ringer.
  • To see attachments of a message go to the message choose Details and scroll to locate the attachments that are sent using iMessage.
  • Often, when message clutter is too much you might need to delete them go to Settings-> Messages-> Message history, choose the option to keep a message for 30 days, 1 Year or forever. After the set timeline the message would be automatically deleted.
